Treat Me Like Somebody

She scrolled through the staged holiday pictures wondering what the scene looked like before or after it all.

There was something in the photo with her wide toothy smile radiating dishonest happiness that caused a great disposition in her movement. Leaning in closer, it felt as if you could identify a tiny bit of anguish in her eyes. What passed as a glimmer of light was actually tears being held back from falling.

The transition between ending a year and beginning the next seemed to have brought on reluctance and qualm in her chest. Four years ago to this exact season, she was tossing dishes to the ground and running outside the house into a fluffy pile of snow. The tears, resulting from the truth, didn’t stop falling until she was hitting 90 mph on the icy freeway. She managed to let out uncontrollable laughter

in between the swerving and sliding on the icy road. Madness. Have you ever been in so much shock that it’s “funny” to you?

“He really cheated on me” were the only words that she repeatedly pushed out of her mouth to cut through the crisp air around her. “I thought the future had us together…forever”.

Today, four years later, she is regretful when she finally admits that while she forgave and seemingly forgot about that incident… the trust was never restored. You can’t be selfish with your actions and expect things to go back to how they once were. Friends, family, lovers, I ask you: What is it that women do to induce liars, beaters, cheaters, and narcissistic men in their life?

Don’t take advantage of HER. Win that queen back before you lose her for life.

“I just want somebody(body)To treat me like somebody(body)
Won’t be like everybody(body)
All you got to do is love me for me baby.”
